Louise Adkins: Re-visioning a smoky meeting

Wednesday 29 November 6pm - 8pm

Artist Louise Adkins showcased photographic work in the Bar & Kitchen produced during her residency here at The Tetley. She also presented a performance in the historic boardroom; drawing on material in the brewery archive, adopting themes of historicity and employing audio description narrative techniques commonly used for blind and visually impaired audiences. Adkins’ residency focused on the process of (re)-visioning; looking at unknown, lost or un-witnessed histories and historical events as a starting point to develop performances. Her research sought to interrogate cultural understandings of historic authenticity, narrative myth-making and the potential to inform the viewers’ ability to reflect and (re) imagine the past.
