EPIC DOMESTIC: Practising Propaganda Party

  • Wed 13 Dec
  • 1–2pm & 2–3pm
  • First Floor Galleries
  • Free, drop-in

Join Bobby Baker’s Practising Propaganda Party, an afternoon of workshops exploring and challenging gender injustice.

Each session begins with a unique opportunity to create Revolutionary Radical and Attractive Accessories. Then, flex those Revolutionary Muscles with an EPIC stomp led by Bobby’s comrades in domestic pursuits, the Moving Memory Dance Company.

Amidst all this radical fervour, watch a film of Bobby demonstrating the art of Subversive Sandwich-making and a showreel of over 70 Subversive Sandwiches created by women supported by Women’s Health Matters.

Take home EPIC DOMESTIC Propaganda giveaways and become committed members of EPIC DOMESTIC, the artist’s Domestic Revolutionary Party fit for the 21st century.

Bring your protest and your passion, have a laugh and put the world to rights. Everyone is welcome and all are needed.

Part of the artist’s EPIC DOMESTIC project, the aftermath of the party will remain open as an installation, on display 14–17 December.

Part of LEEDS 2023: Year of Culture and supported by Unlimited, The National Lottery Awards for All and The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Presented in partnership with Women’s Health Matters and The Tetley.

About

Bobby Baker’s EPIC DOMESTIC is an artistic mission to fight gender injustice, connect communities and challenge the unequal division of domestic labour in the home. Inspired by activism, propaganda and the untold stories of women all over the world, EPIC DOMESTIC is a quest to create a Domestic Revolutionary Party fit for the 21st century.

EPIC DOMESTIC is part of Our Community Takeover programme, celebrating ten years of community participation at The Tetley before we leave the building on 17 December.
