An alternative guide to our PANIC! Together programme

Journal 9 Mar 2022

PANIC! Together is a free, four day programme of artist development events, taking place at The Tetley, Leeds, and The Art House, Wakefield.

With over twelve events – including talks, workshops, socials and more – we wanted to give you some alternative ways of navigating the programme.

Discover our options for browsing below.

Give me a list!

If you’re after a list of the full programme, in chronological order – no problem.

Head to the main PANIC! Together page and scroll until your heart’s content.

Pictures please…

For bright colours and photos of our fantastic speakers, visit our What’s on page and select the ‘PANIC! Together’ filter (a tick box on your left on a desktop, or under the ‘All events’ button on your right on mobile).

You can also use the date filters to take a look at what’s coming up this week.

Shouting About Your Work

These sessions are all about helping you get out there, making new connections and sharing your work.

Book a portfolio review to meet curators from The Tetley and The Art House; get practical tips on inviting peers to a studio visit; or learn how to maximise your online presence without compromising on your wellbeing.

Thoughtful Practices

Sean Roy Parker explores how you can make changes to begin ‘decarbonising’ your practice while staying true to your artistic vision.

Keisha Thompson’s practical, interactive online session is an introductory workshop to anti-racist professional practices, exploring structural prejudice and the foundations of anti-racism, as well as language use and meaning.

Artists Nicola Singh and Sam Metz invite you to consider how to create thoughtful, welcoming environments for group crits, through focusing on approaches that foster both criticality and care.

How To Make It

Getting started in the art world is daunting – and pursuing success even more intimidating.

We’re here to share some practical information and skills to help you through getting commissioned; starting your own independent curatorial practice; writing an artist statement; or working with collectives.

Taking The Money And Running

For artists in Leeds and Wakefield, commercial galleries are few and far between.

Ellie Pennick and Georgia Taylor Aguilar demystify commercial galleries and consider how they might work for you.

Zita Holbourne, a life long trade unionist and multidisciplinary artist, introduces you to the power of unions and the importance of being part of a network as an independent artist.

There’s something for everyone over the four day programme – so get booking!
