PAGES: FUTURE PRESENT
A 20TH ANNIVERSARY ARCHIVE DISPLAY
CO-CURATED BY JOHN McDOWALL AND CHRIS TAYLOR
Join us for the Launch on 2 February 2017, 6-8pm. Free.
This exhibition brings together publications, ephemera and photographic documentation from the past 20 years of the International Contemporary Artists’ Book Fairs and the associated activities and exhibitions programmed around this annual event.
From the first Fair held at Dean Clough, Halifax in 1998 to its current location at The Tetley, PAGES has instigated research, exhibitions and events relating to artists’ books foregrounding the book as a primary medium in art practice.
A prototype for other UK artists’ book fairs that have subsequently emerged, PAGES continues to support the genre through the encouragement of production by emerging and established artists, designers and makers.
Accompanying satellite exhibitions and projects will be on show at The Henry Moore Institute Library, University of Leeds’ Project Space (School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies) and The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery from February to June.
