The Tetley

…what happens next?

2 - 12 July 2015

This exhibition is of work by Year 10 GCSE art students from Cockburn High School in South Leeds, inspired by their engagement with the Painting in Time exhibition at The Tetley.

Through a process of experimentation and trial and error, the students explored some of the techniques, materials and ideas contained in the show and developed personal responses over a period of weeks. Working with project artist Hamish McLain and their teachers, the students tore into traditional ideas of what a painting could be, resulting in this exhibition of final pieces chosen and curated by the students.

Exhibiting students:
Mirza Ruhul Baeg, Astra Balmforth, Sabina Balogova, James Brooke, Olivia Farnell, Toni Hargreaves, Brody Honeyman, Tayyib Hussain, Georgia Jackson, Narisha Khan, Samiya Kahn, Zulaikha Khan, Jennifer Lancaster, Mostafa Miah, Connor Passey, Wayne Pratt, Lucy Staniforth, Alex Stockwell, Vytautas Vaznys, Tilly Wilby, Lucas Williams, Eryk Zwolinski.

Thanks to Hamish McLain, Merry Hardcastle and Nick and all the staff at Cockburn High School.

This project was made possible through a generous donation from the Calder Family on behalf of the Leeds Community Foundation.
