The Tetley

Copy: Resource Space

21 June – 27 July 2014

During their guest-curated Resource Space project at The Tetley, artist/publishers COPY will present a number of events and an evolving selection of research materials that contribute to the development of a new publication.

Exploring documents, works and ideas surrounding the qualities of materials and their manipulation, labour, repetition, making, form, physicality and actions and patterns associated with technologies, the project will draw together industrial processes, artistic practices and forms of publishing.

The publication, launched 2015, will bring together work by artists from the UK and Turkey exploring process, material and manufacture, making reference to The Tetley and their forthcoming residency at Torna, Istanbul.

Manual Labours: Screening
Wednesday 9 July, 6pm

COPY have invited Manual Labours to present a screening as part of their research project Process / Material / Manufacture at The Tetley, which will contribute to a forthcoming publication. Manual Labours have selected films that capture the conversation of transformation of labour processes and bring in the context of The Tetley from production factory to cultural museum. The screening will be followed by a discussion involving the hosts and audience.

Art / Publishing Roundtable

Saturday 19 July, 12-1.30pm

Join COPY founders Joanna Loveday and Charlotte Morgan for an informal discussion about their practice as artists, writers and publishers, drawing on issues surrounding self publishing and the published form, current debates around the presence of experimental writing in the fields of visual art, performance and literature, and the lineage of practices they trace as influences. This event is part of COPY’s residency in The Tetley’s resource space as part of A New Reality: Part 3.
